The Kingdom of Sorvenya is crumbling. Cracks in their façade covered by revelry; lavish balls, wine and music.
Since the death of Queen Catori, her husband, King Alderic Kasimir has sat on the throne, surrounded by music, artists, and fine wine. With a son being primed for succession and his daughter a spectre haunting the castle, the growing number of sudden deaths at court points to malcontent and conspiracy.
Across the kingdom, in the town of Herald’s Foot, Kisaeven Saide is set to hang for uncovering treachery in a noble house and rendering it an ashen husk.
Within the castle, the Princess withers, yearning to escape her gilded cage, banished from court, with just her father’s Fool as company. But can anyone under the crown’s thumb truly speak their mind?
And, to stomp out the dissonance in the aristocracy, Saeve is set to collide with the one woman he daren’t raise a blade to.
